About Unix Timestamp

Type a Unix timestamp to see it as local time, UTC and a relative time such as 3 hours ago, or pick a date to get its timestamp. Tick Milliseconds when the number counts milliseconds instead of seconds, because the tool doesn't guess that from the number of digits. Current timestamp fills in the time right now.

Frequently asked questions

Seconds or milliseconds?

Unix timestamps traditionally count seconds since 1 January 1970 UTC, while JavaScript and many APIs use milliseconds. A 13-digit number is almost always milliseconds, so tick the Milliseconds box for those.

Why is my timezone off by an hour twice a year?

Daylight saving time. A Unix timestamp is always UTC, and the local time shown here follows the time zone of your device, including its daylight saving rules.
