Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between AA and AAA?

AA needs a 4.5:1 ratio for normal text, 3:1 for large. AAA needs 7:1 normal, 4.5:1 large. AA is the baseline most teams target; AAA is for sites that must be readable by users with low vision.

Does 'large text' mean a big font size?

WCAG defines large as 18pt regular or 14pt bold and larger. Anything smaller has to clear the stricter normal-text ratio.
