About Image to Text
Image to Text reads the text in a JPG, PNG or WebP with Tesseract, in English, Dutch, German, French or Spanish. The text appears on the page and you can download it as a .txt file. Tables come out as plain lines of text without their grid.
Frequently asked questions
Is handwriting supported?
Not reliably. Tesseract is built for printed text, so handwriting, even neat block letters, often comes out wrong.
How clean does the image need to be?
Sharp, straight and evenly lit works best. Tesseract's own documentation advises a resolution of at least 300 DPI, and skewed or shadowed photos give more mistakes.
