About Image Compress
Image Compress keeps the file type of a JPG, PNG or WebP and saves it smaller with the quality slider. JPG uses mozjpeg and WebP its most thorough setting, PNG is reduced to a palette of fewer colors, and from 95 up a PNG stays lossless. When the result isn't smaller than your file, the tool tries a few lower qualities, down to 12. Metadata such as EXIF location data is left out.

What's a safe quality setting?
Start at the default of 75 and compare the result with the original. Photos usually still look good there, while screenshots with text may need a higher number.
Does PNG compression lose quality?
Below 95 it does, because the colors are reduced to a palette of at most 256. From 95 up the palette step is skipped and the PNG stays lossless.
