About MP4 to GIF
MP4 to GIF turns a clip of up to 30 seconds into a looping GIF at 15 frames per second and 480 pixels wide, with the height following the original proportions. There are no settings for the start, end or frame rate, and a longer clip only returns the general Conversion failed message, so trim it before you upload it.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my GIF so big?
GIF stores each frame as a picture with at most 256 colors and has none of the compression that video uses, so a few seconds of MP4 can turn into several megabytes. Shorter clips help, and Compress GIF can lower the frame rate and colors afterwards.
How do I get the smoothest result?
Use a short clip with little camera movement. The tool always works at 15 frames per second and 480 pixels wide, so fast motion and fine detail are where a GIF loses the most.
