About Compress XLSX
Compress XLSX unpacks the workbook, saves any JPG, PNG or WebP images inside again at a lower quality when that makes them smaller, and packs everything back up at the highest ZIP compression. Cells, formulas, styles and charts are not touched, so a spreadsheet without pictures only gains from the tighter packing.
Frequently asked questions
Will formulas still work after compression?
Yes. The sheets themselves aren't edited, only pictures are saved again, so formulas, pivot tables and formatting stay as they were.
Why didn't my spreadsheet get much smaller?
The sheet data is XML that is already compressed inside the file. Without embedded pictures there is little left to gain, and the result can be close to the original size. The tool accepts .xlsx files only.
