Why is WAV so big?
WAV stores every sample uncompressed, 16 or 24 bits times two channels times 44,100 samples per second. That's roughly 10 MB per minute at CD quality.
Does compression hurt?
MP3 leaves out sound that is hard to hear, so the result is never an exact copy. 160 kbps is the highest setting here and fine for most listening. Keep the WAV if you still need to edit or master the audio.
